Poly-Arthritis – Playing the guitar again

“I am 67 years old, now retired and living in Condom in SW France. Over 20 years ago I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. No treatments seemed to work, and all the joints in my body slowly deteriorated.
Fortunately there was no actual deterioration of the bone structure, just the mobility. It was thus decided some years later that it had been a misdiagnosis, and that it was some rare form of poly-arthritis.

This did little to change my life. For some years I was successfully treated with cortisone, but for safety reasons this had to stop, resulting in an almost immediate reversion to where I was before. More recently new drugs have come onto the market that make daily life more or less normal.

For 20 years I have been unable to close my hands fully.

This was personally tragic, as I had to give up the guitar, a great passion. In a more practical sense this made life difficult as it resulted in forever dropping things.

Picture 1 shows my left hand at maximum closure, with all my strength attempting to force my hand closed. It has been like this, unchanged for around 20 years.
I then tried a treatment with the NMS 460 machine. The treatment consisted of two and a half minutes each, at fairly low intensity, on two points on the front and two on the back of the wrist.
Picture 2 shows my left hand immediately after treatment. There has been no deterioration in the four weeks since the treatment.
During the same session my right hand was also treated. This time the result was different. There was no improvement. However two or three days later I found that I could close my hand. Again there has since been no deterioration.

A truly remarkable result…

…and I’m now able to once again play the guitar and do so many things others would take for granted.
